1. Choose a Baby Shower Theme

You may already have a theme in mind and that’s great but if you need a little inspiration head over to Pinterest and search for baby shower ideas. They have themes for boys, girls, gender neutral, trendy themes, and traditional.

Planning a baby shower after you know your theme is easy because then you have a guide for all your decisions.

2. Start with the Invitation

All events start with the invitation. It’s the first interaction with your guests and it sets the stage for the whole event. Start by finding an invitation template on Canva or use one of our free ones. When you search invitation in Canva you get 3 options 5×7 portrait (tall), 5×7 landscape (wide), or square. You can also create custom sizes but for now we’ll stick with the standard.

Also, when choosing a template I look for the layout and font style that looks most similar to what idea I have in my head for my invitation. Even if the theme isn’t what i’m looking for it gives you a good foundation to start building your custom invitation.

Once you have your orientation. You can search for a template that has a similar theme to yours or dive into Canva’s element library and search for your theme.  to find graphics search for your theme and items related to it. Here’s some examples:

Theme: Over the Moon

Search – moon, stars, night sky

Theme: Woodland Animals

Search – Woodland, animals, watercolor animals, fox, forest, log, mushroom

Theme: Circus

Search – circus, clowns, ticket stub, acrobats, circus animal, red white stripe

Hopefully that gives you a good place to start. You can chase down any ideas until you come up with the perfect invitation.

3. Create all the Matching Items

Using the graphics you used for the invite create all the other decorations and papergoods you need for the party.  Canva makes it really easy to see the recently used elements. You can create your own custom sized designs or search for some of Canva’s premade templates for things like; posters, tags, folding cards.

You can also purchase our template bundles with all the party templates you will ever need HERE.

The key to a Pinterest-worthy party is all the matching details.
